Located in the westeren part of the state, unlike its sisters Fernald and Wrentham
in the East. It opened its doors in 1922 in a little town called Belchertown.
Belchertown State School for the Feeble-Minded was the thrid State School built in Massachusetts.
Setup in a Colonial Rivial Style. The campus was spread out over 876 acres of land.
With schools, dorms, power plant, fire department, auditorium, and many other amenities for its
residents. After 70 years of service the state closed the state school in 1992.
